Herbst Kostecki Wedding Stationery
by Anne Kostecki
This invitation suite, for my own wedding, needed to have a rustic, nature-inspired theme. We decided to incorporate autumn trees and a starry night sky as design elements - the trees would represent his down-to-earth, practical personality; and the stars would represent my slightly out there, creative personality. The palette consisted of a dark mahogany brown, cobalt blue, ivory, and touches of silver. I also wanted a silver metallic finish to the stars, so I blind embossed the dots for the stars and hand painted them afterward with silver ink. The tables were named for temperate forest trees (brown) or constellations (blue) for either side of our family or friends. I designed additional signage for the event, including a seating chart, menu cards, bar menu cards, programs, and a guestbook "mailbox" with our honeymoon destinations as postcards.
The suite was letterpressed on Crane Lettra cotton paper, after offset printing of the watercolor sky. The stars were blind embossed and hand painted afterward with silver ink. All of the invitation and envelope calligraphy was done myself.
